The Anatomy of Relationships    [14 Hour Format]

This is GrowthClimate’s FLAGSHIP COURSE.  Together with its resource manual by the same title, it contains the base material for understanding relationship styles.  These styles are common to all cultures, all religious and ethnic groups, and to all people and countries worldwide.  And where we speak of interaction and communication between human beings, there are far more similarities than there are differences.  The bases for these similarities are spelled out clearly.

Perhaps surprising to some, not only will the universal elements of these relationship styles be seen clearly, but you will discover also that the byproducts of relating to people in these ways are readily and accurately predictable.   You will see the impact on self-worth, on creativity, on one’s ability to succeed, and on competency. In addition, an individual’s capacity to connect or bond with others, and how he/she views and relates to the world, are also affected. 

Relationship styles that are based on manipulation and control affect the lives of others adversely; those that are based on Five Fundamental Relationship Principles—Commitment to Integrity, Affirming Worth, Growth, Agency, and Trusting Your Instincts & Intuitive Response—have the opposite effect.

“Of all the research done on child development, perhaps the most disturbing is one which concluded with this statement: ‘Creativity in children is largely destroyed by the second grade.’  You might well ask, “What in the world would cause that?”  We could hardly imagine that any concerned parent or teacher would knowingly contribute to this kind of close-down in a child.  And yet many of us, primarily out of low awareness, do just that.  Once a child, or an ADULT either for that matter, loses connection with his/her instincts and intuitive responses, virtually all creative energy is diverted to survival rather than growth.

FEW OF US RECOGNIZE WHAT IT IS THAT DESTROYS SELF-CONFIDENCE.  A national research study gave us the following alarming statistic:  “Creativity in Children is Largely Destroyed by the Second Grade.” There is no inference here that teachers did it!  Sadly so, all of us can contribute to this loss unwittingly.  You will learn how children acquire beliefs and how those beliefs impact every aspect of their lives: their perceptions, their communication, their memory recall, and their behavior.  You will see what causes children to divert their creative energies to survival rather than to personal growth.  You will learn how to “crack the door” into the hearts of your children and help them turn that creativity back on.  You will learn to identify the very tactics which cause your children to not trust and how to replace those tactics with principle.  You will come to see why self-confidence is a by-product, not something you merely dispense like a medical prescription. 

For those kids whose creativity is still intact, you will discover how to KEEP it intact.  For those whose creativity has been diverted, you will learn how to stimulate its reawakening.  You will also see how “Self-esteem rises in direct proportion to the amount of responsibility a person takes for his own actions.”  This course is designed to help parents understand the natural stages through which children go during the developmental process—physical, emotional, cognitive, social, sexual, moral, etc.

It is also designed to help parents learn how to establish close, deep, trusting, and LASTING CONNECTIONS with their children.  Instead of facing strained relationships where kids begin to rely more on the information they receive from their peers, children can be comfortable in talking with their parents.  Not only will you find them sharing information about day to day situations, but they can also be at ease in discussing issues that trouble them personally, issues that most kids wouldn’t even dream of sharing with a parent!

Children will find great relief in knowing that they can talk about their fears, anxieties, and any other feelings without worry about being criticized, mocked, laughed at, or belittled.  Parents should be the first line of defense for their children.  They should be the place children can go for reality checks when things cause them concern, when they feel they are in need of counsel, and when making key decisions.
